Deposit systems and producer levies target the recovery of most beverage containers. Over the past three decades, Canada's 10 provinces and two territories have established sophisticated systems to recover scrap beverage containers. Because of the comprehensive nature of many of these systems and the unique methods used in some provinces, details about these programs are useful to governments assessing beverage container recycling options (also see "Economics of Expanding Bottle Bills" in this issue).
