Mobile TV is now considered to be one of the most promising technologies by telecommunications operators, broadcasters and content providers. However, at this stage, mobile broadcasting is perceived as either an opportunity or a risk for telecom operators, depending on the way both networks (telecom and broadcast networks) will be used in the service delivery. The deployment of rich media technologies in an open and flexible service delivery environment will enable an efficient co-operation between both types of network and will be the source of new revenues. This article presents use cases, technologies and a functional architecture supporting the adaptation and personalisation of interactive mobile TV services.
