We read with great interest the study by Tolosana et al., in which the authors affirm that atrioventricular junction (AVJ) ablation does not carry a survival benefit in patients with permanent AF undergoing CRT. The striking conclusion that 'complete atrioventricular block does not reduce long-term mortality in the AF population treated with CRT' challenges the findings of several studies and a recent meta-analysis, which are the basis for recent guidelines for the application of CRT to the AF patient population.
