Back pain in primary care

It is estimated that 80 of adults will experience back pain at some point in their life (Palmer, Walsh, Bendall, Cooper, Coggon, 2000). The NHS spends more than zeta1 billion per year on back-pain-related costs (Maniadakis Cray, 2000). This article aims to provide guidance for GPs on how to assess and manage back pain holistically in the community.
