In Aertker v. Placid Holding Co., No. 07-473, 2012 WL 4472002 (M.D. La. Sept. 27,2012), landowners were awarded a percentage of profits from a pipeline that was installed in the early 1980s without the landowners' permission. An independent contract right-of-way agent for Placid Refining Company (Placid) obtained a right-of-way agreement only from the mineral lessee.
