On a case of behavioural plasticity of post-fledgling care in the Great Tit Parus major

Two cases of late adoption of fledglings by malesParus majorduring postfledgling care period are described. The behavioural plasticity and the precision of their environmental knowledge which allows them not only to perceive a couple's disappearance but also the disappearance of only one member of the pair is emphasized.
