Reactions of Pt(COD)(C6H5)2 (where COD = 1,5-cyclooctadiene) with the mixed bidentate ligands 8-(diphenylarsino)-quinoline (N-As), 8-(diphenylphosphino)quinoline (N-P), 1-(thiomethyl)-2-(diphenylarsino)ethane (S-As) and 1-(thiomethyl)-2-(diphenylphosphino)ethane (S-P) gave the diphenyl complexes Pt(L-LA)(C6H5)2 (where L-LA = N-As, N-P, S-As, S-P). Reactions of Pt(L-LA)(C6H5)2 (where L-#x139; = N-As, S-As) with hydrogen chloride (generatedin situ) or hydrochloric acid afforded the monophenyl derivatives Pt(L-#x139;)(C6H5)Cl. The complexes were characterized by elemental analysis, IR,1H-NMR and mass spectrometry.
