AbstractBreeding for impact resistance in potato is common at the end of a breeding scheme, where there is no more variability for it. The purpose of this study was to propose an objective progeny test using a pendulum and single‐year data. Data were recorded over a 5‐year period using 275 progenies, organized in small factorial and hierarchical designs. The variability of response of the additive variance made it impossible to generalize parental choice.
