In this paper, a time delay system described by differential-difference equation, which properly belongs to an infinite dimensional system is approximated into a finite dimensional linear differential system using Pad#xe9; approximation. Such a system is then optimized through the concept of output feedback control to minimize a quadratic performance index of the nondelayed and delayed states and control vector. Infinite-time results are obtained for systems involving delays in state and control vector and compared with known results obtained otherwise showing close agreement.
