摘要

The trend of outsourcing of certain logistical functions by mineral companies was examined, such as loading/discharging at plants or mills, internal stock control, and overseas transport. This maybe new in the mineral industry but is already quite common in PVC or PE granular production. For example, external logistics companies enter the plant and "satellite" the product for warehousing as soon as it comes out of production, ready it for shipment, and take care of the deliveries & distribution/transport to final end users. This process has strong similarities with the known PCC system in the papermaking industry. Another future trend highlighted was further use of webcam systems by cargo surveyors when controlling/supervising any handling operations and during storage. In such fashion, irregularities, damages, and contamination can thus be ascertained by video.
