Zircon in ceramics

Ceramic grade zircon sand has a rollercoaster pricing pattern. For the last couple of years however, prices have been on the rise, spurred on largely by a gradual tightening of supply. Improvements in the ceramics markets following the economic downturn of 1 997 raised industry hopes, but the effect on raw material pricing has been limited. The ceramics industry is once again having a tough time, and a capacity glut in the zircon milling sector, in combination with a number of other factors, is keeping the pressure on opacifier prices.
