Olympus Corporation released in July the Olympus PEN E-P1, one of the world's smallest and lightest lens-interchangeable digital cameras. Because the product is a "micro interchangeable lens camera," the company banks on the fine quality images produced by the Olympus Pen E-P1, which aims to create a new niche in the digital camera market.The Olympus E-Pl inherits the concept of the Olympus PEN, a film camera family that has been well received in the market, and incor-porates the values unique to digital camera lineup of Olympus. The new product was able to offset the disadvantageous features of digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras, which are usually heavy, large, and difficult to use.
