The use of Tc-99m human serum albumin (HSA) administered intradermally to study changes in the flow of lymphatic fluid in the lower limbs has been previously reported. A patient is presented who had edema and swelling of the right hand of one month's duration and had a Tc-99m HSA lymphatic flow study that clearly demonstrated the cause of the edema to be due to increased production of lymph. The potential use of this procedure to study pathophysiological changes of lymph flow in patients with edema of the upper limbs seems to be as promising as previously reported cases in lymphedema of the lower limbs.
