In recent years, the rain in southern Spain has not been sufficient to adequately recharge ground water. Spain is dependent on ground water for tourism and agricultural needs. All indications are that a water crisis may be around the corner. The problem of managing ground water in arid areas was the subject of a special graduate program held in Almeria, Spain. Back in July, the Trust was invited to participate and present perspectives on the role of creating awareness, providing information, and stimulating education among water users, local town government, and regional water authorities.
