Equilibrium study on the mixed ligand complex formation of Cu(Ⅱ), Ni(Ⅱ), Zn(Ⅱ) and Cd(Ⅱ), hereafter M(Ⅱ), with folic acid (A) and some bidentate ligands (L) viz. oxalic acid, glycine, α-alanine, phenylalanine, tyrosine and ethylenediamine provides evidence of formation of binary MA, ML and ternary complexes MAL in solution. Formation constants (log K _(MAL)~M) of the complexes at 25 ± 1℃ have been determined in aqueous solution at a fixed ionic strength I = 0.2M (NaClO_4) and stability constants (Δlog K) have also been calculated. Complex formation equilibria have been elucidated with the aid of redox behaviour.
