Dear Sir, In 1991, a right-handed female nurse then aged 36 presented with a 12-month history of progressive flexion of the fingers of the right hand after a minor injury at work. Despite physiotherapy and Pain Clinic treatment, including sympathetic blockade, she had developed severe flexion deformities of all four fingers such that the nails, which could not be accessed for cutting, were penetrating the palm. She had had repeated infections including septicaemia.
