Advancement and diversification of the information network are remarkably recognized, and further evolution of our on-going network environment is accomplished by the new architecture such as VPN (Virtual Private Network), mobile computing, RFID, ubiquitous environment, grid computing, the ad hoc network and so on. Considering safety and security for the advanced and diverse information network, many problems are strongly required to be solved in relation to Information and Communication Security including the system development and implementation. Thus, the IEICE (Institute of Electronics, Information and Communication Engineers) Transactions on Information and Systems organized a Special Section on Information and Communication System Security to promote security technologies for our safe and secure communication environments.
