Stan avery was an entrepreneur in the most American sense of the term. His determination to create the world's first self-adhesive label during the depths of the Great Depression in the 1930s, without funding or precedent, triumphed against the odds. In 1935, Avery invented a product he called Kum Kleen price stickers, the first commercially feasible self-adhesive labels.
