India has a rich heritage and tradition of using natural dyes obtained from natural sources because natural dyes are aesthetically appealing and eco friendly. In ancient India natural dyeing were commercially used for dyeing of textiles. From earliest time for fulfillment of all needs man has looked towards nature. The nature providing different coloring matters of vegetables, minerals and animals origin. These were used for textile colouration. But after the discovery of synthetic dyes a steady decline of the use of natural dyes was noticed. Making the consumers aware of ecological and environmental problems caused by synthetic dyed textiles and making an alternative widely available are the keys to the success of natural dyes. Today pollution, ecology and environment talked about nationally and internationally. The increasing awareness of these factors associated with synthesis, Processing and use of dyes has led the world-wide interest in coloration of textiles with flora and fauna. In the present investigation effect of mordant combination on cotton dyed with Hamelia leaves was studied. The effect of mordant combination was studied with respect to colorfast-ness properties and shades obtained.
