The foreboding cloud of new EPA air quality standards isn't about to dissipate, though some of the stormfront may be stalled. Hot on the front burner is the May 1999 compliance deadline for the Maximum Achievable Control Technology (MACT) standard for printing. This standard requires 95 percent control of 189 hazardous air pollutants (HAPs) emissions for gravure product package printing and wide-web flexo operations.
