Quenching of radicals formed in a photopolymer layer by an acrylate monomer

The quenching of imidazoyl radicals (Im·) in photoinitiatorsystems consisting of an aminostyryl dye and a radical-generatingreagent by acrylate monomers in poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)films was investigated by laser flash photolysis using a totalreflection cell. 1n addition, the quenching of Im' by oxygen in thepresence and absence of a poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) overlayer as anoxygen barrier was discussed.
