Recently, the Kocarina is one of the musical instruments begun to spread. However, it has not realized sounding of an exact pitch, and is the step of trial and error. Therefore, in order to promote the spread of the Kocarina, it can be said that it needs to be satisfied fundamental performances of a musical instrument by acoustics analysis. In this paper, some fundamental acoustical characteristics of the Kocarina were discussed from both sides of experiment and theory. From the results, it can be found as follows: (a) Relations between flow velocity and sounding frequency were obtained. (b) The sounding mechanism was supported by numerical computation. (c) Pitch depended on the cross section of opened finger holes and the position of it. It can be said that fundamental data acquired is effective against the design for the Kocarina.
