Health safety and technological progress in making water drinkable

Drinking water is one of the major environmental factors affecting human health. At the dawn of the new millenium, it is unacceptable for the simplest methods of making water drinkable not to be available to all and for the poorest countries or the smallest distribution units to have difficulties offering this vital sanitary tool, which is drinking water, to their populations. The development of technologies for making water drinkable has been stimulated by regulations and they have been optimized with the primary objective of improving the physico-chemical and biological properties of water, from production to the points of use.
