This paper discusses the optical properties of glass composites obtained by sol-gel technology. It is established that the thickness of the film deposited on a glass substrate depends on the sol concentration, its deposition rate, and the curing time. The concentration of sodium oxide that diffuses from the substrate into the coating decreases as the film becomes thicker, and the refractive index of the films decreases as the concentration of sodium oxide in them decreases.
