Phase-locked loop (PLL)-based clock recovery is demonstrated using a semiconductor laser amplifier in a loop mirror (SLALOM) as optical phase comparator. For this application, a width of the switching window wider than the bit period of the data signal is applicable. A 10 GHz optical clock signal having less than 0.3 PS timing jitter was successfully recovered from 160 Gbit/s data signals. Error free demultiplexing from 160 to 10 Gbit/s was also achieved using this clock recovery.
