A field strength survey of 1860 mc./sec. transmitter located on a Himalayan ridge (2296 m. above sea-level) and beamed towards the Gangetic plain was carried out. The calculated values and experimental results show reasonable agreement when the effects of receiving antenna height and foreground conditions, which produce large variations in the received signal level, are taken into consideration. It is found that the antenna beam pattern is maintained even at long distances from the transmitter.
