摘要

Precessional switching in a single-domain biaxial magnetic disk is studied via the Landau-Lifshitz-Gilbert equation. The orientation of the magnetization and the switching time are studied as a function of the amplitude and duration of an in-plane pulse applied perpendicular to the initial magnetization. Switching is possible in biaxial disks for a pulse of lower amplitude and a shorter switching time can be achieved, when compared with a uniaxiall disk. For a suitable pulse, the magnetization passes through a modified energy landscape and is brought to the vicinity of the switched orientation by the pulse, and results in fast switching.
