Reactions of U(OC2H5)5with different types of ketimines, i.e., monobasic bidentate, bibasic tridentate and bibasic tetradentate, derived by the condensation of o-hydroxyacetophenone (o-HOC6H4COCH3) withn-propylamine (n-C3H7NH2),n-butylamine (n-C4H9NH2), 2-hydroxyethylamine (HOCH2CH2HH2), 3-hydroxy-1-propylamine (HOCH2CH2CH2NH2), ethylenediamine (H2NCH2CH2NH2) and 1,3-propylenediamine (H2NCH2CH2CH2NH2) have been described. These reactions in the medium of anhydrous benzene liberate different moles of ethanol depending on the stoichiometry of the reaction and yield a variety of new uranium(V) Schiff base derivatives. All these complexes have been synthesized in almost quantitative yields and in a state of sufficient purity and characterized by elemental analysis, molecular weight determinations, infrared spectral data measurements and exchange reactions.
