On the Ambiguity Reduction Ability of a Probabilistic Context-Free Grammar

This paper studies the ambiguity reduction abil- ity of aprobabilistic context-free grammar. We theoretically an- alyze acommon behavior of any probabilistic context-free gram- mar.Moreover, we confirm by experiments that a probabilistic context-freegrammar learnt from Japanese corpus has the ambi- guity reductionability as expected by the theoretical analysis.
