AbstractThe crystallization kinetics of unfilled and glass‐reinforced grades of polyphenylene sulfide has been investigated by using differential scanning calorimetry. The maximum rate of crystallization is observed at about 170°C. From the crystallization data, it is recommended that the molding parameters should be so specified that the polymer spends 10–15 s over the temperature range of 155–190°C during cooling, before demolding, in order to ensure stable morphology of the molded part. The glass fibers have an accelerating influence on crystallization resulting in a 15–25 reduction in crystallization time. The kinetic data have been interpreted by using Avrami analysis followed by a discussion of the possible crystallization m
