AbstractThe presence of small amounts of divinylacetylene in the monomer during the emulsion polymerization of chloroprene results in substantial increase of the molecular weight, gel formation, and in corresponding changes of physical and mechanical properties of vulcanizates. These changes appear at concentrations of divinylacetylene as low as 0.05 in chloroprene. The polymerization kinetics of chloroprene are influenced to a relatively small extent.
