LIST OF PLANTHOPPER TAX A DESCRIBED BY RAUNO E. LINNAVUORI (HEMIPTERA: AUCHENORRHYNCHA: FULGOROMORPHA)

A list of the genus- and species-group taxa described by Rauno E. Linnavuori in the Hemiptera: Auchenorrhyncha, Fulgoromorpha (planthoppers) has been compiled. 168 available species names and 5 genera are described.In his remarkably long and productive career, Rauno E. Linnavuori (Wilson et al., 2017) described species of planthopper (Fulgoromorpha) from 15 of the 21 recognized families. In all, 168 species/subspecies and 5 genera have been described, of which the majority (161 species and 4 genera)are currently valid. A delphacid planthopper, Calligypona simillima Linnavuori, 1948a (now Javesella simillima) was the very first species he described. Most of the species described are from the Middle East or Africa reflecting his early interest in these faunas. The descriptions and comments on species in these diverse families show the great depth of knowledge of each family.
