An analytical method using two cataluminescence(CTL)-based gas sensors made of γ-Al{sub}2O{sub}3 and γ-Al{sub}2O{sub}3 containing Dy{sub}2O{sub}3 is proposed for discrimination and determination of fragrance vapors of lemon and orange etc. These sensors have high sensitivity against fragrance substances of linalool, citral, limonene and α-pinene. As the temperature spectra of the CTL in a heating course of these sensors at a constant rate show specific profiles depending on the type of these vapors, we can discriminate the type of these fragrance vapors and determine the concentration between 0.01 and 1 ppm of these vapors in air.
