VPIsystems has 'OnePlan' for network planning

For the last several years, network planning has been "kind of boring," at least from a transport perspective, say the folks at VPIsystems (www. vpisystems.com). Having overbuilt their networks during the bubble years, carriers found themselves with excess capacity and little need to change or reconfigure their network infrastructures. However, two emerging trends are driving the need for more sophisticated network planning—network convergence and the deployment of IPTV—and VPIsystems says it has developed a software system that automates all the processes and procedures associated with sophisticated network planning and management.
