Uptake of Tc-99m MDP in Soft Tissue Calcific Deposits Due to the Tumor Lysis Syndrome

While uptake of bone scanning agents in soft tissue abnormalities is common and has multiple causes, uptake of bone scanning agents in calcium-phosphate deposits involved in the tumor lysis syndrome has not previously been reported. Further studies will be necessary to determine the incidence of soft tissue accumulation of Tc-99m MDP following massive phosphate release.
