Macroscopic images of carrot cell suspensions were analyzed to quantify the suspensions' embryogenic potential using a texture analysis method. Differences in visual appearance, due to cell aggregate size distribution, between embryogenic andnon-embryogenic cell suspensions were observed. The differences were expressed by the values of the texture features calculated from the suspensions' macroscopic images by spatial gray-level dependence method (SGDM). Images of suspensions with higherembryogenic potentials had higher values of texture feature Entropy using the SGDM. These results suggest that texture analysis of a suspension's macroscopic image has the potential to evaluate the suspension's embryogenic potential.
