摘要

Here, we discuss the theoretical and acquisitional implications of lexically-determined exceptions to the rules of wh-movement in English, and consider some data bearing on this issue from two tasks: an offline grammatical judgment task and an online self-paced reading task (in progress). Of particular interest is the contrast between native-speakers/naturalistic English learners and class-room based (Japanese) second language learners of English.
