General practice currently faces many challenges. Once again, the NHS is becoming a political football in advance of the general election. Recruitment into general practice remains problematic (The National Recruitment Office for General Practice Training, 2013) and many experienced colleagues are choosingto retire early. Nevertheless, despite feeling the pressure too, we Trainees remain resilient! We have much to be proud of, and look forward to. We enjoy a comprehensive run-through training programme and benefit from dedicated time and teaching tailored to our individual learning needs. Practice placements enable learning to occur in the community, not the classroom. Our curriculum defines the skill set we need for UK general practice, and the judicial review (Mining, 2014) has confirmed that the MRCGP assessments are fair.
