Twelve new complexes of succinoyldihydrazine (SH) of the compositions UO2(SH)X2nH2O and UO2(SH)2X2nH2O (X #x2ED; NO#x2212;3, Cl#x2212;, NCS#x2212;, CH3COO#x2212;, 1/2 SO4, 1/2 C2O4; n #x2ED; 0, 2, 3) have been prepared and characterized by analytical data, decomposition temperature, molar conductance, i.r. and Raman spectral data. They are soluble in donor solvents like dimethylsulfoxide and dimethylformamide only and decompose above 250#xB0;C without melting. SH coordinates in the keto form as neutral bidentate bridging ligand through the secondary nitrogen atoms retaining the intramolecular hydrogen ponding of the uncoordinated molecule in all the complexes. The nitrato, acetato, thiocyanato and chloro groups function as a monodentate terminal ligand and sulphato and oxalato as a bidentate chelating ligand. The complexes have polymeric chain structures involving an eight-coordinated uranium atom.
