Clonal micropropagation was optimized for Roman chamomile,Anthemis nobilisL. (Compositae), through shoot tip culture. Apical and axillary buds produced multiple shoots in Murashige and Skoog's (MS) basal medium supplemented with BA (0.5 mg/liter) and IAA (0.5 mg/liter). A positive effect of 0.1 percent yeast extract on shoot multiplication and growth was detected. Roots were induced on shoots using an MS-medium without BA. Rooting was stimulated by the addition of 0.1 mg/liter of IBA or IAA to the culture media. Thein vitromultiplication gave rise to healthy plantlets that were successfully established in soil and had normal development and morphology.
