The best known representatives of the Golden Age of Finnish art settled to the shores of Lake Tuusulanjaervi in the late 1890s. Today, in the hearts of the Tuusula municipality and the town of Jaervenpaeae, Lake Tuusulanjarvi is one the most intensively studied lakes in our country. Limnological studies on the lake were started by professor Jaernefelt (1925, 1937a, 1937b, 1937c), one of the founders of SIL. It has been regularly studied since the beginning of the 1970s and is included in many international, national and local research programs.
