The etiopathogenesis of the condition continues to be investigated by the exploration of genetic and immunologic factors. Treatment options include dietary manipulations. The prevalence of arthritis among patients with bowel disease seems to be increasing, while the presence of gut lesions among patients with spondyloarthropathy is noted to be associated with disease activity.
