Combined triggering at the wrist and severe carpal tunnel syndrome caused by gouty infiltration of a flexor tendon

Dear Sir, Mechanical triggering at the carpal tunnel is a rare occurrence. Two previous case reports describe this condition caused by an inflammatory nodule (Brown and Coulson, 1974) and an anatomical flexor muscle variant (Bou-Merhi et al., 2007). We report an unusual case of trigger finger originating at the carpal tunnel with a gouty tophus as the causative pathology and an associated acute severe carpal tunnel syndrome.
