Application of HPLC in the Determination of Amino Acids in Natural Waters

Reversed-phase high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) with gradient elution has been used for analysing 19 different amino acids at picomole level using fluorimetric detection.1The amino acids in natural waters were preconcentrated prior to their analysis. Calcium ions interfere in the determination of amino acids and a way to overcome this effect has been described.
