The present paper is a contribution to the “molecular” analysis of photomorphogenesis. L-phenylalanine ammonia-lyase (=PAL) (EC 4.3.1.5) has been used as a model system to demonstrate that enzyme synthesis, enzyme inactivation and gene repression are important in determining the response of a particular enzyme to phytochr
