IAA- and gravity-induced curvatures in coleoptiles are altered by the “morphactin” methyl-2-chloro-9-hydroxyfluorene-(9)-carboxylate (CFM), the length of the curved part of the coleoptile being greatly reduced. A ring of CFM-containing paste blocks the bud-inhibiting effect of IAA when placed between the bud and the site of IAA application.
