The structure of liquid chlorine

A neutron diffraction experiment was carried out to measure the structure factor of liquid chlorine at a series of three temperatures along the saturated vapor curve. The results of these experiments are shown, along with the pair correlation functionsg(r) found by Fourier transforming the structure factors. By comparing the experimental pair correlation functions with calculations done using the interaction site approximation and with calculations of the low density limit ofg(r), conclusions are drawn on a model potential and on the manyhyphen;body contributions tog(r).
