Indications are that water and wastewater utilities will be ready for Year 2000 computer problems. The Environmental Protection Agency's Office of Water sponsored a test of 17 drinking water and wastewater utilities from July 25 through August 6. It reported, "Control systems, equipment with embedded computer chips, and communications links were among the components tested; in almost all cases, operations continued smoothly."
