While this month's example program is just a graphical display, it's easy to see how you might use the base classes in a variety of practical applications. For example, if you were drawing a chart representing a database query, you might use Vapplet to cut down on drawing chores. For that matter, you might use AniApplet to automatically refresh the chart at a regular interval. Of course, this is just one example of the power of object-oriented programming. If you work at it, you can develop a powerful library of reusable components by spending just a little extra time on each project. The trick is separating the wheat (code that is generally useful) from the chaff (the project-specific code that you'll never use again).
