Solvent extraction parameter data has been presented for the processing of soyabean on a plant scale both by extrusion process and without extrusion that is by normal solvent extraction process using flakes. The quality of the oil has been checked. Their refining behavior has also been observed by taking trial in refinery plant. All these data indicate that whenever extruder is run to increase the capacity of the plant, quality of the oil decreases due to increase in gum/sediment and P ppm, deoiled cake quality remaining unchanged. The refinery plant trial data shows that this gives extra refining loses and extra chemical consumption with respect to crude oil processed through flakes. A comparative cost economics has been drawn for both the processes to see the efficiency of each of them.
